Job Summary

Kaweah Health is a publicly owned, community healthcare organization that provides comprehensive health services to the greater Visalia area in central California. With more than 5,000 employees, Kaweah Health provides state‑of‑the‑art medicine and high‑quality preventive services in an acute care hospital, specialized health centers and clinics. Our eight‑campus healthcare district has 613 beds and offers comprehensive health services across a broad continuum of care.

Responsibilities

  • Secures a complete health history, including obstetric, gynecologic, contraceptive, medical, surgical, family health and psychosocial aspects, and records findings accurately and succinctly.
  • Performs appropriate general examinations, diagnostic tests, and other procedures as indicated by patient history and complaints, following protocol.
  • Provides specialized and/or advanced practice services within the scope of training.
  • Provides patient instruction and education on medication information, disease education, health promotion, care instructions, and more.
  • Follows up on abnormal findings in a timely manner, responds to patient clinical needs, and refers to other providers as appropriate.
  • Charts all information with regard to the client’s examination and treatment plan within the electronic medical record, meeting quality‑improvement standards and completing timely documentation.
  • Consults with the assigned supervising physician when necessary and reviews complex cases in accordance with appropriate protocols.
  • Pursues and completes ongoing, high‑level continuing medical education activities; shares updates with the APP team and clinical leadership.
  • Attends APP and clinical site meetings to stay current with organizational communication and priorities.
  • Participates in organizational quality‑improvement initiatives, providing feedback and input on clinical processes.
  • Coordinates clinic coverage with other providers and provides backup coverage as needed.
  • Provides care delivery within a team‑based, patient‑centered approach and engages the patient and family in decision‑making.
  • Utilizes care team members appropriately (pharmacy, care coordinators, dietitians, etc.) and evidence‑based practice guidelines and resources.
  • Works collaboratively with all members of the care team and support staff.
  • Acts as clinical team leader for safety, training, and support of staff as indicated.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served.
  • Is knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age‑specific needs, and can effectively communicate care to the patient and family.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Licensed CA Physician Assistant.
  • DEA registration.
  • BLS certification.
  • Graduate of a PA program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (or approved predecessor agency) or certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Eligible after the medical‑staff credentialing process is complete and HR has received clearance from the KH Medical Staff office.
  • Bilingual preference.

Benefits & Work Shift

Eligible Full‑Time Benefits. Work shift: Day – 10‑hour shift (United States of America). Department: 7027 Urgent Care Center-UCC Demaree.

Compensation

Pay Range: $72.90 – $109.36 per hour.
