The University of Dubuque is a growing faith-based University thatis seeking a part-time Physician Assistant at the Smeltzer-Kelly Student Health Center.

Position Summary:

The Physician Associate (Assistant) at the University of Dubuque'sSmeltzer-Kelly Student Health Center provides comprehensive,student-centered primary and acute healthcare services, includingassessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up care, ordering andinterpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, andperforming select procedures. Working independently andcollaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, this roledevelops individualized care plans while promoting wellness,disease prevention, and health education through a holisticapproach that supports students' physical, mental, and emotionalwell-being. The Physician Associate (Assistant) also partners withcampus departments to coordinate care, contributes to healthpromotion and preventive health initiatives, and fosters awelcoming, inclusive, and confidential environment that supportsstudent success and a healthy campus community.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform direct patient care for University of Dubuque studentsincluding diagnostic and therapeutic services at the Smeltzer-KellyStudent Health Center
  • Function independently and/or as a member of aninterdisciplinary team to plan, deliver, and evaluate healthcarefor University of Dubuque's student population
  • Promote and support health maintenance, disease prevention andwellness strategies across the continuum of care
  • Perform medical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures,prescribe, dispense or deliver medications in accordance with stateand federal scope of practice laws
  • Document all aspects of patient care accurately in theelectronic medical record (EMR) and ensure compliance with billing,regulatory and institutional standards
  • Initiate and coordinate referrals to specialists, externalproviders or other campus services as appropriate for continuedcare
  • Contribute to the ongoing achievement of Student Health Centergoals through active participation in program development, qualityimprovement and student health initiatives
  • Maintain current clinical competencies and professionalexpertise through continuing medical education, certifications andbest practices
  • Maintain excellent verbal and written communication skills foreffective patient education, care coordination anddocumentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University'smission

Qualifications:

  • Master's or doctoral degree from an accredited PhysicianAssistant (Physician Associate) program
  • Current certification by the National Commission onCertification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and eligibility forIowa licensure required
  • Prior experience working with young adult population ispreferred
