Physician Assistant

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Physician Assistant role based in San Antonio, TX. The Physician Assistant will work collaboratively with orthopaedic surgeons and clinical staff to evaluate patients, obtain medical histories, perform focused physical examinations, and assist in diagnosing and managing orthopaedic and sports medicine conditions. Daily responsibilities include ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, providing patient education on injury prevention and recovery, and documenting encounters in the electronic medical record. The role may include assisting in outpatient procedures, performing joint injections or other minor interventions as delegated, and supporting pre-operative and post-operative patient care. The Physician Assistant will also participate in care coordination, communicate with referring providers, and contribute to maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Current Physician Assistant licensure in the state of Texas and graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Clinical skills in orthopaedics or musculoskeletal medicine, including patient assessment, diagnosis, and non-surgical management.
• Ability to interpret imaging and diagnostic tests relevant to orthopaedics (e.g., X-rays, MRIs, lab results) and integrate findings into treatment plans.
• Strong patient communication skills, including the ability to explain conditions, procedures, and rehabilitation plans in accessible terms.
• Experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary team environment and coordinating care across clinics, hospitals, and surgical centers.
• Proficiency in electronic medical record documentation, time management, and maintaining accurate, compliant medical records.
• Commitment to compassionate, patient-focused care, with attention to cultural sensitivity, ethical practice, and patient safety.
• Prior experience in orthopaedics, sports medicine, or a related specialty is preferred but not required; new graduates with strong interest in the field are encouraged to apply.
