Physician Assistant, PRN – GI

Work Location: Texas Health Plano, 6200 West Parker Road, Plano, Texas, 75096

Work Hours: PRN, all days (as needed varies) to cover PTO and high census. Could be weekdays and/or weekends. 10‑hour shifts.

Education and Experience

Education : Graduate of an AMA accredited physician assistant program – required.

Experience : 3 years of PA experience preferred; 1 year of GI experience preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Active Texas PA license – required upon hire.
  • ACLS – required within 90 days.
  • BCLS – required prior to independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
  • Other NCCPA credentials – preferred upon hire.
  • Any other required credentials must be credentialed by Medical Staff Services upon hire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform history & physicals and write delegated physician orders, including medications, plans for procedures and discharge.
  • Actively participate with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate communication and planning; rounds on patients; communicate effectively with delegating physicians, physician consultants, and other members of the care team.
  • Document actions, assessments, progress notes and plans in the EHR utilizing approved protocols, order sets, and navigators as appropriate, including medication reconciliation.
  • Contribute to positive patient experience through effective patient communication and focus on coordination and communication with the multidisciplinary care team; work with varied Patient Experience Teams providing feedback and ideas.
  • Meet/performance regulatory requirements, NPSGs, clinical and other KPIs, safety standards; analyze performance; demonstrate fiscally sound decisions.
  • Perform clinical procedures authorized by the physician within scope of training and medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations.
