Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers.
  • As an employee operating in a Whole Health System of care, you will operate in a model with three core elements, seeking to create a personalized health plan for each Veteran in a context of healing relationships, healing environments, and a connection back to the Veteran's community.
  • This aligns with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Mission Statement to honor America's Veterans by providing exceptional health care that improves their health and well‑being.
  • Functions primarily as a Women's Health provider in a Women's Health clinic setting, providing primary care to patients at the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System – managing both scheduled and unscheduled outpatient visits.
  • Serves as an integral member of the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) – coordinating care with nursing, clerical, pharmacy, social work, dietetics, and more.
  • Participates in daily team huddles and system redesign projects.
  • May manage a patient panel per the Primary Care Management Model (PCMM) guidelines; panel size determined by PCP FTE, support staff, and room availability.
  • Supervises or collaborates with licensed independent practitioners (e.g., APRN, PA).
  • Provides clinical oversight and participates in peer reviews through periodic chart reviews, as mandated by Medical Staff Bylaws.
  • Acts as a surrogate for absent Primary Care Providers, including review of CPRS view alerts.
  • Attends primary care staff, departmental, and medical staff meetings.
  • Ensures timely documentation of notes and encounter forms per facility policy and completes administrative work promptly.
  • Work Schedule: Monday‑Friday 8:00 am‑4:30 pm – no weekends.
