Job Brief

Physician Assistant, Pain Management

The Physician Assistant for Pain Management will be a full‑time opportunity for a Board Certified (or eligible) provider to become part of our Pain Management provider team. Experience in Pain Management is preferred and we are open to training new graduates with a serious interest in spine and pain management. The PA will also see follow‑up patients for chronic musculoskeletal pain, spine, and post‑procedure follow‑up.

The PA provides healthcare services that are typically performed by a physician and are under the scope of practice of that physician. These services are provided by the PA under the supervision of an appropriate physician listed with the Georgia Medical Board.

Under the supervision of a physician, the PA is responsible for the following:

  1. Conducting comprehensive physical examinations and assessments,
  2. Providing treatment,
  3. Ordering diagnostic tests and, in some cases, ordering medications as approved by a physician,
  4. Developing treatment plans,
  5. Counselling patients.
The PA will clearly and accurately document all assessments, orders, procedures, treatment plans and patient education/counseling in Health Connect.

What You Can Expect

  • Assess patient status by obtaining health history through patient/family interviews and chart reviews; assessing presenting illness, risk factors, family history, psychological situation, and cultural factors; and performing appropriate physical examinations.
  • Order/or perform appropriate laboratory diagnosis and other screening tests. Seeks other information as needed, including consultation with physicians and other clinicians, for evaluation of illness. Integrate data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan, including identification of any health risk.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans by prescribing/dispensing medications and/or injections in compliance with medical practice guidelines and state laws. Instruct patient/family regarding medications and treatments. Educate patients regarding health promotion and illness prevention.
  • Collaborate with physicians in managing acute and long‑term medical needs of patients. Provide monitoring and continuity of care between visits according to treatment plan.
  • Clearly document assessments, procedures, and/or treatment plans in Health Connect.

Minimum Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Physician Assistant Certificate program from an accredited college or university. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Physician Assistant license in the state of Georgia.
  • Certification obtained by passing the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination, administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • CPR certification – current BLS.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated collaborative/team‑oriented work style.
  • Physician’s Assistant experience preferred.
