Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patients, perform comprehensive or problem‑focused physical examinations, and obtain medical histories.
  • Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health‑care needs.
  • Prescribe, recommend, and/or employ medical drug therapies or other therapeutic treatments and procedures, and perform indicated procedures in accordance with approved policies, with attention to efficacy, safety, and cost.
  • Formulate and implement comprehensive outcomes‑based patient treatment plans based on patient assessments, evidence‑based medicine, and professional guidelines, collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary team members when appropriate; evaluate patient response to care.
  • Counsel patients and families regarding medical processes, management of illnesses, medication, nutrition, and health promotion; counsel on drug regimens, side effects, and interactions with other substances.
  • Maintain accurate records detailing treatment plans and outcomes; initiate timely consultation and referral when scope of practice is exceeded.
  • Provide consultation‑level services for conditions within specialty and training.
  • Perform invasive procedures specific to scope of practice and level of expertise as delegated by supervising physician.
  • May be required to perform patient‑care duties beyond regular schedule based on coverage needs.

  • Knowledge of diagnosis, treatment alternatives, drug properties, and preventive health‑care measures for injuries, diseases, and deformities.
  • Knowledge of practices for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions.

  • Critical thinking and complex problem‑solving skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Ability to develop and implement comprehensive outcomes‑based treatment plans.
  • Ability to counsel patients on medical and psychological/psychiatric conditions, treatment plans, and behavior modification.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Current Texas Physician Assistant license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Current NCCPA certification.

Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience.
  • Current Texas PA license.
  • Current NCCPA certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
