Role Description

The Physician Assistant will provide comprehensive dermatologic care in an outpatient setting, including conducting patient histories and physical exams, diagnosing and managing common skin conditions, and developing treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians. Daily responsibilities include performing procedures such as biopsies, cryotherapy, excisions, and other minor surgical interventions as appropriate, as well as educating patients on diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive skin care. The role also involves reviewing test results, documenting encounters in the electronic medical record, coordinating follow-up care, and supporting clinic flow through timely, accurate charting. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Monterey, CA, requiring close collaboration with physicians, nurses, and support staff to maintain high standards of patient care and safety.

Qualifications

• Active Physician Assistant license in the state of California and current NCCPA certification.
• Clinical experience in dermatology or a strong interest in specializing in dermatology; experience with outpatient or procedural care is highly beneficial.
• Proficiency in performing and assisting with dermatologic procedures such as skin biopsies, cryotherapy, excisions, and wound care, or a willingness to learn these skills.
• Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making abilities, including evaluating rashes, lesions, and other skin conditions and developing appropriate treatment plans.
• Effective communication skills for explaining conditions and treatments to patients in clear, respectful language and collaborating with multidisciplinary team members.
• Experience with electronic medical records, accurate documentation, and adherence to clinical and regulatory standards, including infection control and patient privacy.
• Demonstrated commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care, with the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment and manage a steady patient schedule.
• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program; additional dermatology-specific training or certification is a plus.
