Major Function
Position Responsibilities
- Diagnose, evaluate, and manage a variety of oncologic and hematologic conditions
- Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the cancer center physician team
- Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory studies, diagnostic imaging, and other tests
- Prescribe medications, chemotherapy, supportive care, and other treatments
- Monitor patients for treatment response, adverse effects, and disease progression
- Provide symptom management and supportive care, including pain management and palliative care when appropriate
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, side effect management, and survivorship planning
- Coordinate care with specialists, infusion services, radiation oncology, surgery, social work, nutrition, and other interdisciplinary team members
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, tumor boards, clinical protocols, and evidence-based practice projects
- Document patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Minimum of 2 years of oncology experience preferred
- Familiarity with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and clinical practice guidelines
Certification / Licensure
- Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Active and unrestricted PA license in NJ
- DEA & NJ Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) license
- BLS certification
