What You'll Do In the Short Term
- Conduct initial medical assessments for all new patients prior to their first HBOT treatment, reviewing history, medications, imaging, labs, and comorbidities to confirm appropriateness and identify contraindications
- Review referral documentation and clinical correspondence, and prepare hyperbaric technicians with the treatment protocol and prescription needed for safe, informed care from day one
- Educate patients on HBOT risks, benefits, and alternatives, and obtain and document informed consent
- Monitor patients throughout their treatment course, evaluating tolerance and responding to acute clinical issues (e.g., middle ear barotrauma, oxygen toxicity, claustrophobia), escalating to the Medical Director as needed
- Author timely progress notes and Medicare-compliant documentation to support medical necessity and audit readiness
- Conduct discharge consultations and author discharge summaries, including clinical outcomes and treatment value
- Communicate with referring physicians at key points in the patient journey and participate in care coordination for complex cases
- Maintain a documented collaborative agreement with Kaiser Permanente to consult on and supervise Kaiser patients
- Serve as a clinical resource for the hyperbaric technician team
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support compliance/regulatory readiness
- Consult with patients interested in regenerative medicine and wellness to target medical solutions to their concerns
- Perform other duties as assigned
What You Bring
- Current national PA certification
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Valid California Furnishing Number and DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain)
- Valid Medicare PTAN , enrolled and certified to treat Medicare patients
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Kaiser Permanente collaborative agreement
- 2+ years of clinical experience as a PA in outpatient, primary care, wound care, or a specialty setting — hyperbaric experience is a plus, not required; we provide full training
- Strong documentation skills, including experience with Medicare standards
- Comfortable working with patients navigating serious or chronic conditions, and communicating with referring physicians
- Proficiency with EHR systems (CareCloud experience a plus)
