Responsibilities
- The practice of a Physician Assistant shall include medical services within the education, training and experience of the physician assistant that are delegated by the Supervising Physician.
- Medical services rendered by physician assistants may include, but are not limited to, obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations; writing progress notes, procedure notes and monthly care plans, ordering and/or performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; formulating a diagnosis; developing and implementing a treatment plan; monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions; offering counseling and education to meet patient needs; making appropriate referrals.
- Physician Assistants, in an emergency, shall be authorized to treat any medical disease and/or perform any medical and surgical procedures at the hospital for affiliates. An emergency, for these purposes, is defined as a situation in which any delay in administering treatment would result in serious harm to the patient or an immediate threat to life of the patient and that a qualified practitioner is not immediately available.
- The activities listed above may be performed in any setting authorized by the supervising physician, including but not limited to, clinics, hospitals, and other institution settings.
- In addition to the core skills listed here, PAs will request validation to perform department-specific skills.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physician’s Assistant program.
- Registered as a Physician’s Assistant in New York State NCCPA certified.
- Education Required Level - Bachelor's Degree.
- The position is a rotational schedule. Hours are: Day 8a-8:30p & Night 8p-8:30a.
