Surgical Physician Assistant provides patient care in all peri-operative settings through the performance of patient evaluation, assessment and treatment in the medical office/inpatient setting, as well as assisting physicians in patient surgery.
Position Details
- Full-time (40 hours/week)
- Days, Monday - Friday
- One weekend call per month or 1:4 (Saturday & Sunday)
- 65% inpatient / 35% outpatient (rotating between days in the hospital and days in the clinic to provide full support in both, as well as possible outreach locations)
- Team includes 7 physicians and 3 Physician Assistants
- Patient volume: 25/week in clinic and 30-35/week in the hospital
- Highly autonomous role with support of the surgeons and APPs
Experience
- Proven knowledge of sterile technique standards
- Suturing experience
- General surgery/OR experience
- General knowledge of Da Vinci robot operations preferred
- Six months of related experience in general surgery preferred
Licenses & Certifications
- Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program
- Must be board certified
- Georgia licensure or ability to obtain
- Will consider a new graduate with general surgery experience
Qualifications
- Able to communicate effectively with medical and hospital staff and various populations in clinics and public screening events.
- Must be capable of dealing tactfully and effectively with patients, family members, other employees and physicians
- Must maintain high degree of confidentiality.
- Must meet credentialing criteria.
- Must possess the cognitive ability to understand patient medical records, physician orders and medical orders to be communicated to patient, hospital and/or other physician.
- Must possess the sense or discipline to work in accordance with accepted clinical standards.
