Position Summary

The Physician Assistant provides comprehensive care for patients with gastrointestinal and liver disorders in collaboration with our gastroenterologists. Responsibilities include patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, follow-up care, hospital rounding, patient education, and care coordination.

Essential Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage patients in outpatient gastroenterology clinics

• Conduct hospital rounds and consults

• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging

• Develop and implement treatment plans

• Educate patients regarding GI and hepatology conditions

• Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, hospitals, and referring providers

• Document patient encounters within the EMR

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient care programs

Qualifications

Required

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program

• Current Virginia licensure or eligibility for Virginia licensure

• National certification (NCCPA, or equivalent)

• DEA license (or ability to obtain)

• BLS certification

Preferred

• Gastroenterology experience

• Internal Medicine experience

• Hospitalist experience

• ACLS certification

• APP GI-C Certification (AGA GI Advanced Practice Certification)

• GI Fellowship training

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $115,000 - $150,000+ annually

Compensation will be based on experience, specialty training, certifications, and relevant clinical expertise.
