Physician Assistant Certified

University Pain Centers, an affiliate of the Department of the Anesthesiology at Rush University Medical Center, is seeking highly motivated Physician Assistants to join our dynamic, patient-centered pain management team of physicians, pain fellows, medical residents, and other support staff. This role offers the opportunity to practice in an evidence-based, high-quality clinical environment as part of an established Physician Assistant team, alongside nationally recognized pain specialists.

Responsibilities

I. Clinical

• Completes and documents accurate patient histories and physical examinations in a timely manner.
• Conducts comprehensive or episodic health assessments and develops patient care plans.
• Orders and interprets tests, treatments, and therapies within the scope of practice.
• Prescribes medications, including controlled substances, to the extent delegated, and utilizes nonpharmacologic treatment modalities as appropriate.
• Responds promptly and professionally to web-based and telephone patient inquiries and thoroughly and accurately in accordance with clinical protocols, provider instructions, and applicable regulations.
• Orders, interprets, and performs laboratory and other diagnostic tests and procedures.
• Provides direct patient care in assigned areas, which may include hospital or ambulatory settings.

II. Professional

• Works collaboratively with supervising physicians, departmental staff, and other members of the healthcare team in an effective and comprehensive manner.
• Acts as an advocate for patients, families, coworkers, and the physician assistant profession.
• Participates in all required provider activities.
• Integrates evidence-based knowledge and clinical expertise into decision-making.
• Demonstrates competency in all medical and surgical procedures and skills essential to the area of practice.
• Maintains board certification, state licensure, and continuing medical education as required by hospital, state, and federal policy.

III. Education

• Provides relevant and comprehensive patient education to patients, families, and significant others.
• Fosters the growth and development of students and other healthcare professionals.
• Continuously assesses personal capabilities and limitations, striving to improve clinical practice.
• Uses knowledge and expertise to contribute to community health improvement.

Required Qualifications

• NCCPA certification (PANCE)
• Solid grasp of current practice trends
• Master's from an ARC-PA accredited PA program
• Strong work ethic & communication skills
• Current BLS certification
• Comfortable working autonomously/ in teams

Location: In-person (Westchester, IL 60154 and Chicago, IL 60612)

Relocation: Required prior to start date.
