Job Overview

Responsible for patient care under the supervision of a physician, collaborating with medical teams and staffing. Performs a broad spectrum of critical thinking, diagnosis, medication and diagnostic ordering, and the execution of corrective, preventive and therapeutic measures in inpatient, surgical, and/or outpatient settings. Assumes medical staff privileging under the scope of practice of a delegated physician determined by Mount Sinai Health System.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient management, diagnosis, treatment planning, and order pertinent tests, therapeutics, and medications in accordance with NYS law and hospital policy, including controlled substances with DEA licensure.
  • Work and communicate effectively with medical teams and associated staffing.
  • Consult nursing and ancillary medical teams on patient condition and plan of care.
  • Counsel patients regarding prescribed therapeutic regimens and health maintenance.
  • Collaborate with supervising physician(s) and the care team in a timely, respectful manner, prioritizing patient-centered safety and quality.
  • Perform delegated clinical duties and tasks effectively and efficiently.
  • Practice within the scope of the supervising physician.
  • Communicate assessment, treatment, and care planning to patients, families, and designated caretakers in an effective and compassionate manner.
  • Facilitate patient continuity of care across multidisciplinary services and participate in safe and efficient patient throughput.
  • Adhere to clinical and institutional policies and procedures related to clinical practice and hospital or practice site operations.
  • Demonstrate competency and ongoing practice in privileges associated with the area of clinical care.
  • Maintain required certifications and licensure per Medical Staff policy; keep active Mount Sinai Health System privileges as delegated by Medical Staff Services and the department chair.
  • Promote self‑learning and meet continuing medical education (CME) requirements for board certification and evidence‑based practice.
  • Support a positive work environment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Mount Sinai Health System’s Mission, Vision and Values and incorporate them into patient care and teamwork.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment in accordance with infection control standards, policies, and guidelines of the hospital and regulatory bodies.
  • Possess the physical ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, and demonstrate dexterity for short or extended periods.

Qualifications

0-2 years of experience in the clinical specialty of hire and/or new graduate from an accredited PA program.

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $95.481 - $95.481 hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range does not include bonuses, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
