Responsibilities as the Physical Therapist:
- Therapy Services: Provide physical therapy services in accordance with individualized education plans, treatment goals, and student needs.
- Evaluation & Assessment: Conduct evaluations and assessments to identify mobility, motor development, positioning, and functional movement needs.
- Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on mobility, posture, motor skills, safety, and functional independence.
- Adaptive Equipment Support: Recommend, monitor, and support the use of adaptive equipment, orthotics, mobility devices, and therapeutic positioning programs.
- Collaborative Care: Partner with teachers, families, therapists, and healthcare professionals to coordinate services and support student progress.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate documentation, monitor student progress, and ensure compliance with educational and clinical requirements.
- Education: Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) is preferred.
- Licensure: Active New York State Physical Therapist license and registration are required.
- Experience: 1+ years of experience working with children in pediatric, school-based, developmental disability, autism, or special education settings is preferred, and new graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of pediatric rehabilitation, mobility training, adaptive equipment, developmental disabilities, and school-based therapy services is required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic documentation systems is required.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team are required.
