At Mease Dunedin Hospital , we are dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care that improves the health of our community. We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Pool/PRN to support our acute care rehabilitation team. In this role, you will assist Physical Therapists in delivering evidence-based interventions that help patients regain mobility, restore function, and achieve their highest level of independence.

Acute Physical Therapist Assistant Key Responsibilities:

  Assist in implementing treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.

  Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional ADL (Activities of Daily Living) mobility interventions.

• n

  Monitor and document patient progress, reporting changes to the supervising therapist.

• n

  Educate patients and families on exercises and techniques to support recovery.

n
• n

  Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nurses, physicians, and occupational therapists.

  n

• n

  Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.

• n

  Ensure patient safety and comfort during therapy sessions.

  n

• n

  Adhere to infection control and hospital policies.

  n
n

Qualifications:

• n

  Experience in acute care or hospital setting preferred.

  n

• n

  Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  n

• n

  Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Requirements:

  BLS (Basic Life Support)

  n
n
• n

  PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant)

  n

• n

  Or PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant) Temporary and licensure within 6 months

  n

• n

  Required Associate's Physical Therapy

  n
n
• n

  Preferred 1-year Physical Therapy Assistant
