Job Description
Obtain specimens and performs venipunctures for specialized and routine testing.
Required Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Licensure: None.
Experience: Previous experience as a phlebotomist, Certification by ASCP, or successful completion of a formal phlebotomy training program.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, clinical staff and providers. Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service approach. Ability to multitask and prioritize. Proficiency with computers.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Training through a formal phlebotomy program.
Licensure: Certification as Phlebotomy Technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
Experience: One (1) year of experience as a phlebotomist in a clinical laboratory setting. Nursing home phlebotomy experience beneficial.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Knowledge of phlebotomy techniques for all samples across all age groups as acquired through extensive phlebotomy experience.
