Position Type: Contract (4+ Months) Location: Roanoke, VA 24018 Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (30-minute lunch) Hours: 40 Hours/Week

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II to provide high-quality specimen collection services in a professional healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will perform venipuncture and specimen processing while delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring compliance with established laboratory procedures and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture, capillary punctures, and specimen collection for patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
  • Process, label, prepare, and transport specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
  • Verify patient identity and demographic information before specimen collection.
  • Obtain patient initials/signatures after venipuncture to confirm specimen labeling accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and required records.
  • Follow all quality assurance, safety, infection control, and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service while creating a positive patient experience.
  • Support specimen collection at Patient Service Centers (PSC), physician offices, or other assigned locations.
  • Travel between multiple locations as needed with minimal notice.
  • Perform daily duties independently while meeting productivity and quality expectations.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience, including:
    • Venipuncture
    • Pediatric collections
    • Geriatric collections
    • Capillary collections
  • Strong specimen processing and labeling experience.
  • Excellent patient interaction and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer, keyboarding, and data entry skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Medical Assistant or Paramedic training.

Phlebotomy certification (required only where mandated by state law).

Two (2) years of Patient Service Center (PSC) experience.

Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service environment.

Additional Requirements:

Ability to work flexible hours based on business needs, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call assignments when required.

Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record (if applicable).

Willingness to travel between multiple collection sites.

Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with all company policies and procedures.
