Phlebotomist II – Houston, TX

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with rotational weekends. Full‑time position.

Pay

$18.50+ per hour. Salary offers are based on skills, training, experience, education, and certifications. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screening, and insurance exams.
  • Administer oral solutions as trained.
  • Verify orders using lab technology systems, client contact, and approved tools.
  • Navigate computer, accurately enter data, and maintain billing information.
  • Process specimens: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and preparing for transport as required.
  • Perform non‑patient‑facing duties: inventory, supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones, and email.
  • Comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data.
  • Maintain phlebotomy logs (maintenance logs, temperature logs, etc.) as required.
  • Complete online and in‑person training courses timely.

Qualifications

  • Three years phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
  • Flexible availability based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on‑call, and overtime.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable).

Required Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

The position requires effective communication in English.
