Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare collected specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established protocols.
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, and processing of specimens.
- Create a positive patient experience by explaining procedures and addressing patient concerns professionally.
- Collect both clinical and forensic specimens following established procedures and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and patient information.
- Adhere to safety, compliance, and confidentiality standards at all times.
- Perform daily tasks accurately and within designated timeframes under the direction of the area supervisor.
- Promote a professional and positive image of the organization to patients, clients, and the public.
- Support process improvement initiatives and demonstrate leadership behaviors.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or other medical training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
- Minimum 6 months of recent phlebotomy experience required.
- 1+ year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Experience with pediatric and geriatric blood draws preferred.
- Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service environment preferred.
- Data entry and keyboarding skills required.
- Strong venipuncture and specimen collection skills.
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Knowledge of patient confidentiality and HIPAA practices.
- Proficiency in computer systems and data entry.
