Location: Sugar Land, TX
Duration: 3+ Months (Potential for Extension)
Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Phlebotomist I to join our team in Sugar Land, TX. The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization, providing exceptional patient care while collecting high-quality blood specimens for laboratory testing. This role requires strong phlebotomy skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and safety.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in specimen collection, possess excellent customer service skills, and be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures accurately and efficiently.
  • Prepare collected specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established protocols.
  • Ensure proper labeling, handling, and processing of specimens.
  • Create a positive patient experience by explaining procedures and addressing patient concerns professionally.
  • Collect both clinical and forensic specimens following established procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and patient information.
  • Adhere to safety, compliance, and confidentiality standards at all times.
  • Perform daily tasks accurately and within designated timeframes under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Promote a professional and positive image of the organization to patients, clients, and the public.
  • Support process improvement initiatives and demonstrate leadership behaviors.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or other medical training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
Experience
  • Minimum 6 months of recent phlebotomy experience required.
  • 1+ year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Experience with pediatric and geriatric blood draws preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service environment preferred.
  • Data entry and keyboarding skills required.
Required Skills
  • Strong venipuncture and specimen collection skills.
  • Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge of patient confidentiality and HIPAA practices.
