Hours: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist I will perform blood draws and specimen collection while supporting laboratory operations, troubleshooting, training, and workflow recommendations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform venipunctures using straight and butterfly needles.
- Collect, label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens according to established procedures.
- Verify patient information, physician orders, requisitions, and specimen labels for accuracy.
- Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process to patients.
- Properly store and transport specimens while maintaining specimen integrity.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Follow OSHA, DEP, and department regulations and procedures.
- Attend required department training.
- Answer telephone calls and assist with laboratory result inquiries.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting.
- Valid state phlebotomy certification, where required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
