Job Title: Phlebotomist I

Shift: M-Thurs 9AM to 5PM
Fri-9AM to 2PM
The Phlebotomist I is responsible for performing blood draws and specimen collection while ensuring accuracy, patient safety, and compliance with laboratory procedures. This role includes specimen processing, documentation, and providing excellent patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities- Perform venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles.
- Collect blood and other specimens (urine, fecal, etc.) following established procedures.
- Label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens according to test requirements.
- Verify laboratory requisitions and specimen labels for accuracy.
- Maintain specimen integrity by following appropriate storage and transportation procedures.
- Record maintenance data and perform equipment decontamination.
- Update patient information accurately in the system.
- Explain specimen collection procedures to patients in a professional and courteous manner.
- Understand and follow physicians' orders and testing protocols.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Participate in annual departmental training.
- Answer phone calls and assist with laboratory-related inquiries.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting.
- Valid Phlebotomy certification (where required by state regulations).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Experience with specimen processing and handling.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and quality standards.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume patient care environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
