Popcorn Potential Independent Contractor Opportunity
Bring your nonprofit experience into a new professional environment.
You've spent years developing relationships, engaging stakeholders, securing support and turning organizational goals into measurable outcomes.
Perhaps your background is in major gifts, fundraising, donor relations, development, philanthropy, nonprofit leadership or strategic partnerships.
Those skills don't disappear when you're ready for a different professional direction.
Popcorn Potential is seeking experienced philanthropy and nonprofit professionals interested in applying their existing relationship-building, communication and leadership capabilities within a flexible, independent contractor environment.
This opportunity is designed for established professionals who are comfortable working autonomously, learning new systems and building professional relationships in a digital environment.
The Opportunity
This is not a traditional nonprofit or fundraising position.
Rather than managing a nonprofit development portfolio or working within an organization's fundraising department, you'll apply transferable skills such as relationship management, stakeholder engagement, communication and strategic thinking in a different professional setting.
Your activities may include:
- Conducting structured professional conversations through virtual platforms
- Developing and maintaining professional relationships
- Engaging with individuals interested in leadership and professional development
- Communicating information and resources through approved digital channels
- Building professional networks through online platforms
- Participating in structured training and ongoing professional development
- Following established systems, processes and communication standards
- Tracking professional activity and engagement using digital tools
- Managing your own schedule and priorities
Your Professional Background
We're particularly interested in experienced professionals with backgrounds in:
- Philanthropy
- Fundraising
- Development
- Major Gifts
- Donor Relations
- Foundation Relations
- Corporate Partnerships
- Nonprofit Leadership
- Community Engagement
- Strategic Partnerships
- Executive or Senior Leadership
Applicants should ideally have 5+ years of professional experience in a relationship-focused or leadership capacity.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for professionals who demonstrate:
- Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Experience engaging senior stakeholders or donors
- Strategic thinking and sound professional judgement
- Confidence using digital communication platforms
- Strong organizational and self-management skills
- The ability to work independently and consistently
- A willingness to learn new systems and approaches
- A genuine interest in leadership and professional development
Why This May Be Worth Exploring
After years in the nonprofit sector, experienced professionals can find themselves asking different questions about work:
What would greater flexibility look like?
Could I use my experience differently?
What might my next professional chapter look like?
This independent contractor structure may suit professionals who want to explore those questions while continuing to use the skills they've developed throughout their careers.
The work can be structured around other professional commitments or developed as a more substantial independent pathway, depending on individual circumstances and results.
What We Provide
Contractors have access to:
- Remote working arrangements
- Flexible scheduling (part-time or full-time)
- Structured onboarding
- Professional development and training
- Established systems and resources
- Ongoing mentoring and professional support
- An international professional community
Engagement & Compensation
This is an independent contractor opportunity, not salaried employment. Compensation is performance-based and tied to individual results.
The contractor structure is intended for experienced professionals who understand the responsibilities and variability associated with independent work.
Who This May Suit
This opportunity may be particularly relevant if you are an experienced philanthropy or nonprofit professional who:
- Is ready to explore something beyond a traditional nonprofit career path
- Values autonomy and flexibility
- Enjoys building meaningful professional relationships
- Has strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Is comfortable working remotely and independently
- Is committed to ongoing learning and development
- Wants to explore how existing expertise can translate into a different professional environment
