Pharmacy Technician – Customer Support RepresentativeThis role supports pharmacy operations by serving as a key point of contact for patients, healthcare providers, and internal teams. The Pharmacy Technician – Customer Support Representative manages inbound and outbound calls, coordinates medication refills and deliveries, and maintains accurate information within pharmacy systems. This position is ideal for someone with strong customer service skills, clear communication, organization, and attention to detail.ResponsibilitiesMake outbound calls to address non-clinical inquiries, including prescription status and billing-related questions.Manage inbound and outbound calls related to medication deliveries and payments, ensuring accurate documentation in patient profiles.Respond to customer inquiries or route calls to the appropriate team members for resolution.Communicate professionally and respectfully when discussing health- or finance-related matters.Process medical claims and document notes regarding referral and patient status updates.Use pharmacy management systems to assist with refill requests, prescription status updates, insurance verification, and invoice requests.Answer questions during refill scheduling and transfer calls requiring clinical support to the appropriate healthcare team members.Identify and report adverse events and product complaints according to established procedures.Perform accurate data entry related to prescriptions, claims, and patient information.Assist with prior authorization and insurance-related processes.Deliver customer service in a call center environment through professional and effective communication.Collaborate with pharmacy and healthcare staff to support patient care and operational workflows.Perform additional duties as assigned.Required QualificationsPharmacy technician registration preferred.High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.Minimum of one year of call center experience, preferably in healthcare, pharmacy, or a medical office setting.Experience using information systems to manage customer interactions and documentation.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to work across multiple systems.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Professional phone communication skills.Strong attention to detail for documentation, claims processing, and data entry.Customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare-related environment.Familiarity with medical office procedures and medical terminology preferred.Pharmacy experience is preferred but not required.Medical claims processing experience is preferred but not required.Ability to work in a call center environment with performance and attendance expectations.Additional QualificationsAccurate and efficient data entry skills.Customer service experience in healthcare, pharmacy, or insurance settings.Experience with insurance verification and prior authorization processes is beneficial.Retail or specialty pharmacy experience is beneficial.Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare office workflows.Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism.Strong organizational and follow-up skills.Ability to work with performance metrics and incorporate feedback.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to transition successfully from a temporary assignment to a permanent role based on performance and attendance standards.Work EnvironmentThe position begins onsite within a specialty pharmacy and call center setting. Initial training is conducted onsite from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. After training, the standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with occasional rotating Saturdays and a weekday off in exchange. This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity based on meeting performance and attendance requirements. A hybrid work arrangement may be available after approximately 90–120 days, based on performance and attendance.
The role involves extensive computer-based work, use of pharmacy management systems, and adherence to established quality, accuracy, and customer service standards.Job Type & Location: Contract to Hire position based out of Cary, NC.Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
