Pharmacy Specialist, Outpatient Specialty Pharmacy

• Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team representing UAMS Specialty Pharmacy Services


• Provide pharmacy services focused on safety, efficacy, and positive outcomes


• Develop professional relationships with assigned specialty interdisciplinary team members


• Perform patient assessments complying with accreditation standards and patient management program timelines


• Work to institute disease state management agreements with providers


• Cosign outreach documentation in a timely manner


• Assess therapy appropriateness regarding safety, comorbidities, dosing, and side-effect management


• Recommend screening before medication initiation and monitoring for patient safety


• Document clinical interventions


• Promote adherence and monitor patient compliance


• Monitor hospital admissions for the specific patient population


• Answer clinical communications from patients and facilitate communication between patients and clinics


• Support product access with payers using clinical studies and accepted guidelines


• Practice evidence-based medicine


• Develop and manage plans of care using objective data to demonstrate positive outcomes


• Train staff, students, and residents


• Participate in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation, taking call for one week at a time


• Provide accurate drug information to medical staff


• Participate in quality improvement projects, action plans, and the Quality Management Committee


• Work with drug manufacturers to access limited distribution medications


• Complete required training and continuing education


• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy or BS Pharmacy Degree


• PGY1 Residency Training OR 3 years of applicable experience


• Licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacist or eligible for licensure


• Experience or knowledge of EPIC Hyperspace and Willow Ambulatory


• Microsoft Outlook proficiency


• Clinical knowledge and clinical guidelines of the assigned disease state


• Communication, writing, organizational, and time management skills


• Medical resource location and use


• Required license or certificate documentation


• Three professional references


• Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment


• Annual TB Screening, Criminal Background Check, Sex Offender Registry, and Substance Abuse Testing
