Position: Pharmacy Manager – Option Care Health, Inc.

Job Overview

The Pharmacy Manager is a licensed professional responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and delivering safe and appropriate pharmacy services to Option Care patients in accordance with company policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements. The role coordinates patient services with nursing, delivery, and reimbursement departments, manages budgeting and procurement of drug products and supplies, and supports the Operations Director in meeting operational and financial goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Determine suitability of patients for home care.
• Supervise, monitor, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of patient care provided by pharmacy staff.
• Manage daily operations and communications within the pharmacy department.
• Direct the activities of the pharmacy department and schedule staff to meet patient needs.
• Develop and mentor staff through onboarding, open communication, training, and performance management.
• Oversee product purchasing, inventory, budget, and equipment management.
• Assist the General Manager in preparing, securing approval for, and implementing operating and expenditure budgets for the department.
• Evaluate and oversee the purchase, management, and security of medications, pumps, and medical supplies in accordance with policies and formulary guidelines.
• Provide support to sales professionals and the general manager by accurately describing available services.
• Engage managed care organizations and other accounts to educate them on available services.
• Serve as Office Administrator with the Director of Nursing or Nurse Manager in the absence of the General Manager.
• Collect and organize patient‑specific information to prevent, detect, and resolve medication‑related problems.
• Monitor clinical staff documentation of pharmacy care plans for home‑care patients.
• Ensure medications are prepared and dispensed using appropriate techniques, following policies, and that equipment is accurately calibrated.
• Coordinate on‑call responsibilities to ensure reliable pharmacy coverage.
• Manage investigational drug products in accordance with regulations and policies.
• Comply with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements in all activities.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy.
• Current, active pharmacy license issued by the state board of pharmacy.
• At least 5 to 7 years of experience in a clean room or infusion pharmacy setting, or 3 years of experience with non‑sterile compounding, MTM, an ASHP‑accredited residency, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of experience directly managing staff, including hiring, development, motivation, and performance reviews.
• At least 2 years of experience planning, developing, and managing departmental expense and capital budgets, or completion of an ASHP‑accredited residency program.

Basic Qualifications and Interests

• Experience compounding sterile products and managing patient care.
• Experience overseeing purchasing and inventory processes for pharmaceutical substances and supplies.
• Access to reliable transportation to make home visits, including a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a personal vehicle if required.
• Active membership in a relevant state or national clinical, pharmaceutical, or home health care organization.
• Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing solutions.
• Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers and meeting quality service standards.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications and Interests

• Post‑graduate residency program in clinical pharmacy services.
• Board certification in Nutrition Support Pharmacy, Pharmacotherapy, or another clinical pharmacy practice area.
• Experience managing inventory and logistics.
• At least 5 years of experience compounding sterile products for complex infusion patients.
• At least 3 years of experience overseeing purchasing and inventory processes for pharmaceutical substances and supplies.

Travel Requirements

Willing to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes, within and outside the state.

Salary Range

Pay Range: $103,504.79 – $172,507.98, based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
