Pharmacy Manager – Weis

Mount Airy, MD. The Pharmacy Manager will lead the pharmacy department at Weis.

Location: 1001 Twin Arch Road, Mount Airy, MD.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain collaborative business relationship with store operations team, drive associate engagement, and communicate department and company strategy to pharmacy associates.
  • Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions by completing Drug Utilization Review and Final Quality Assurance in accordance with state and federal Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Manage the department to build a profitable business and grow script sales through recommended clinical programs, including immunizations and Medication Therapy Management (MTM) when available.
  • Work with the pharmacy District Manager to control inventories, track weekly sales, and order pharmaceutical stock to meet customer demand and maximize profits.
  • Align performance objectives to the 7 key department metrics that are measurable for effectiveness and efficiencies within the Rx department.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with medical‑related issues and providing healthcare counseling.
  • Supervise the work of pharmacists, pharmacy associates, and support staff.
  • Direct training, coaching, discipline and assume management of all pharmacy associates.
  • Maintain appropriate security of the pharmacy department.
  • Handle and resolve customer issues, complaints and questions to build trust and loyalty.
  • Interact with physicians and use reference material to gain information on customers and prescriptions and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Assist with maintaining the pharmacy department, keeping it clean and orderly.
  • Review ongoing training and development of department personnel to improve performance, ensure continuous development, reduce turnover and control labor costs.
  • Prioritize pharmacy department tasks and follow through to ensure all tasks are completed timely, including cycle counts, inventory management and will‑calls to customers.
  • Supervise pharmacists and other pharmacy associates, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Weis Markets policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding and disciplining associates, appraising performance and resolving complaints.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BS), Doctoral degree (PharmD), or equivalent in Pharmacy.
  • Two (2) years of retail pharmacy experience.
  • Immunization Certification through an accredited organization (e.g., APhA) required.
  • Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily.
