Pharmacy InternPharmacy Intern Duties:Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, pharmacy interns will assist in providing pharmaceutical services through a range of professional and technical activities necessary to serve the needs of the patients, physicians, hospital staff and the community. The scope of these activities will always be within the law and in accordance with the Wisconsin Pharmacy Examining Board.Responsibilities include:Interviewing patients and/or accessing other sources to obtain medication histories – primary job role.Performing drug information retrieval and drug evaluations.Assisting pharmacists with monitoring patient profiles.Providing medication information and education to pharmacist staff and medical staff, upon request.Performing medication checking for first dose, cart fill, and medication cabinet dispensing out of the pharmacy, except for controlled substances and compounded sterile and non-sterile products.Triaging phone calls from nursing staff and working with the pharmacist on duty to offer solutions to medication-related concerns.Preparing medications for dispensing.Performing clerical duties in the pharmacy to ensure efficient operations.Usual pharmacy intern work hours are 5-9PM weekdays and 11AM-7PM weekends. Interns must be able to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per 4-week schedule, including at least two 8-hour weekend shifts per schedule, to maintain competency.

Temporary exceptions may be allowed when pharmacy school experiential education at sites outside of the Pleasant Prairie area conflict with intern work hours.If licensed, trained and competencies maintained for a Froedtert South pharmacy technician role prior to becoming an intern, the pharmacy intern may continue to perform technician responsibilities for which the individual maintains competencies, as assigned and scheduled by the Director, as long as the individual is still completing his/her commitment to the intern program as their primary role.Pharmacy-Intern Requirements:Entry LevelEligible to work as a pharmacy intern in the state of WisconsinFormally enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy Program that is accredited by Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) at the time of hire and maintain the appropriate progress toward successful completion and state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist.Proficient in computer and application skills relevant to the roleAbility to work well with others and adapt to various environmentsStrong decision-making skills in high pressure situationsFlexibility in handling changing duties and workloadsEffective verbal and written communicationActive listening and empathyExcellent organizational and detail-oriented skillsOutstanding customer service capabilitiesSelf-motivated, with the ability to work independently or in a teamStrong problem solving and prioritization skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyLocation: Froedtert South, Inc. · PHARMACY Schedule: Part-Time, Varied, 0-16
