Description

The Pharmacist interprets physician prescriptions and medication orders.

They should also act as a drug information resource to patients, medical

staff, nursing staff and ancillary department personnel. Compounds and

dispenses prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals for patient

care by performing the related duties.

Education

• Doctorate of Pharmacy degree preferred or Bachelor of Science degree

in Pharmacy.

• Graduate from accredited School of Pharmacy.
• Education in all age groups ranging from newborn to the geriatric

population obtained either in school education, experience or

subsequent training.

Experience

• Minimum 1 year hospital pharmacy experience or equivalent.
• One year ASHP accredited hospital pharmacy residency or equivalent

preferred.

• Management training or equivalent managerial experience preferred.

Specific Skills

• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in

• Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certified
• Strong written and verbal skills.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Automated pharmacy systems
• IV Laminar Flow Hood or Glove Box intravenous preparation
• Self-directed, motivated and capable of overseeing support

personnel.

Computer Skills

• Microsoft Word (required), Excel (required) and PowerPoint

(preferred)

• Pyxis or other automated dispensing machines (preferred)
• Electronic Medical Record Experience (required)
• Licenses:**Current Pharmacist licensure in the State of Arizona
• Certifications:**Current BLS/CPR certification
