PharmacistThe Pharmacist will be responsible for quality pharmacy services, collaborating with primary care providers and staff to improve the health of patients. The Pharmacist assures compliance with all regulations of the SC State Board of Pharmacy, and works to achieve the goals, objectives and budget established by CHC's Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team. Pharmacy services will include dispensing medications, assisting CHC personnel and patients with drug information and identification, developing and sustaining productive patient relationships, evaluating and resolving potential drug therapy problems identified through any and all available resources, patient counseling, prescription verification, adherence to state and federal pharmacy laws, precepting students and interns, supervision of pharmacy technicians while on-duty, and participation in projects as assigned.

CHC manages patient care using a team-based approach in our interactions with patients and other healthcare personnel.Duties and Responsibilities:Knowledge of Board of Pharmacy regulationsKnowledge of 340B programAbility to work with primary care providers to maximize cost effective prescribing patterns, improve clinical processes, and achieve clinical standards across the population of patients served by CHCProficiency in computers, including ability to learn Electronic Medical Records and pharmacy software; also use phones, fax machines, printers, scanner, and copiersAbility to carry out supervisory responsibility in accordance with the organization's policies and local, state, and federal lawsAbility to work in a fast-paced office environment with frequent interruptionsClinically competentKnowledge and experience of ordering, inventory, and cost management activitiesAbility to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff and patientsAbility to keep customer service and the mission of the organization in mind when interacting with clients, co-workers, and others, promoting a positive image for CHC, and fostering an ethical work environmentAbility to maintain strict confidentiality with medical information and conform to HIPAA regulationsMust possess strong problem-solving skills and effective time management skillsAbility to understand and respond effectively with sensitivity to special populations served by CHC. Special populations include, but are not limited to, those defined by race, ethnicity, language, age, sex, sexual orientation, economic standing, disability status, migrant, homelessness, seasonal workers, the uninsured, and patients with low health literacy.Assign, coordinate, and oversee pharmacy technicians' tasksEnsure that all pharmacy technicians are working in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations as well as CHC policiesReview prescriptions for accuracy, appropriate dosage, directions, drug interactions, and contact the provider if questions ariseCounsel patients on drug usage, storage, side effects and drug interactions in accordance with federal and state pharmacy lawsAssess allergy concerns and communicate to patients and prescribersProcess and dispense prescriptions in a timely and efficient mannerBill Third Parties and handle rejectionsMaintain accurate records of controlled substancesRemove outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventoryProcess recalls according to policy and proceduresOversee daily ordering of medicationsEstablish and maintain good working relationships with staff, physicians, and other health care professionalsKeep pharmacy securedAnswer and make patient and prescriber callsMake sure Home/Site Delivery patients receive medications in a timely mannerCommunicate with the Chief Pharmacy Officer any issues within the pharmacyAssist with training of pharmacy staffAssist Chief Pharmacy Officer in other duties as assignedReporting Relationships:Responsible to:Directly supervised by Chief Pharmacy OfficerWorkers supervised:Pharmacy Technicians on dutyInterrelationships:Works in cooperation with staff and effectively serves patients/customersThis job description is not designed to cover or contain an exhaustive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
