Summary
The purpose of this position is to maintain high quality pharmacy services to patients and their families. This position reports to the Pharmacy Supervisor within the Pharmacy Department.
Applications are accepted year-round . Eligible applicants are placed on a standing register and considered for vacancies across multiple grade levels, locations, and appointment types.
Duties
- Interpret prescriptions accurately and dispense medications, ensuring proper labeling and patient safety.
- Assist patients in managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and hypertension.
- Provide information on drug therapy, interactions, side effects, and storage.
- Maintain pharmacy records, including patient files, inventories, and control records.
- Perform administrative and advisory work related to pharmacy services.
Requirements
Conditions of Employment
- Must pass pre-employment exam and background checks.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Selective Service registration for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Compliance with immunization policies, including COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption.
- Maintain licensure and certifications.
Qualifications
Qualifications must demonstrate the experience and education necessary to perform the duties. Experience includes paid, unpaid, volunteer, and part-time work, with clear duties and hours documented.
Education and Licensure
- Doctoral degree in Pharmacy recognized by ACPE or equivalent.
- Licensed to practice pharmacy in the U.S.
Experience
- Relevant professional pharmacy experience, including dispensing, evaluating medication use, and maintaining records.
Additional Requirements
- Board Certification or completion of an accredited pharmacy residency is required for certain levels.
- For GS-12, one year of professional pharmacy experience is required.
