Position
Hogan Lovells Cadwalader USLLP is seeking a highly qualified Mid‑Level Life Sciences Litigation Associate to join its Intellectual Property practice. The role involves complex patent litigation matters in life sciences, medical devices, and pharmaceutical technologies, including Hatch‑Waxman litigation and strategic dispute counseling. Candidates will work on cutting‑edge matters for innovative clients across the biotechnology, medical device, and pharmaceutical industries.
Key Responsibilities
Work on sophisticated life sciences patent disputes before federal courts and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB); collaborate with a highly regarded team representing leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies; take and defend depositions; work closely with technical and expert witnesses; manage complex litigation matters.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of experience in complex patent litigation matters involving life sciences, medical devices, and/or pharmaceutical technologies.
- Undergraduate degree in biology, chemistry, or a related scientific discipline relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.
- Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), or eligibility to obtain such registration preferred.
- Strong analytical, writing, and advocacy skills.
- Experience taking and defending depositions.
- Experience working closely with technical and expert witnesses.
- Experience managing complex litigation matters.
- Commitment to excellence and client service.
- Resident in WashingtonDC area, Boston, Houston, or Northern California offices.
Eligibility for U.S. Lawyer(s)
Candidates must have a law degree from an ABA‑accredited law school and be a member of the Bar in the United States.
Salary & Benefits
The expected base salary range is $260,000 to $365,000 per year. The position may include annual performance bonuses, discretionary bonuses, and other compensation. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 401(k) retirement plan; paid time off; and possible relocation assistance.
