Job Summary

Location: Nyack, New York. Work Shift: Day.

Operates PET CT equipment to produce fused imaging of a patient’s body for diagnostic purposes. Positions and immobilizes the patient on the examination table using supportive devices to achieve precise positioning, following protocols specified by the radiologist. Administers radioisotopes under the supervision of the radiologist. Reviews the patient’s medical history and pending procedure to optimize imaging outcomes. Communicates effectively with the patient before, during, and after the procedure. Actively works to reduce radiation exposure for patients and staff. Recognizes emergency patient conditions immediately and initiates codes as per hospital protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and administer radioactive drugs (radiopharmaceuticals) for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Operate imaging equipment to produce detailed fused scans of specific areas of the body.
  • Provide complex technical care to ensure high‑quality images.
  • Respond efficiently in emergency situations.
  • Communicate clearly in written and verbal formats.
  • Maintain all quality assurance (QA) for regulatory and system requirements.
  • Participate in accrediting agency and regulatory inspections.
  • Apply National Patient Safety Goals set by the Joint Commission and NYSDOH, including patient identification, infection control, medication management, and radiation safety.
  • Manage orders for all supplies and radionuclides.
  • Engage in hospital meetings related to quality, safety, financial responsibility, and staff collaboration.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of PET CT performance experience.
  • Preferred certifications: ARRT‑N (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – Nuclear Medicine), ARRT‑CT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – Computed Tomography), NMTCB‑CTT (Certified Tomography Technologist – Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board).
  • Compliance with licensure and/or certification requirements.
