Personnel Security Specialist
Duties
The successful candidate will perform the full range of Personnel Security Specialist duties. Such duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist the Chief, PSB, with planning, developing, and executing NRC personnel security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure effective branch operations.
- Implement administrative and adjudicatory processes for NRC access authorizations-including cases involving significantly derogatory information-for NRC employees, contractors, licensees, and others.
- Request investigative products from the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and initiate supplemental investigative actions as required by 10 CFR Parts 10, 11, 25, and EO 12968.
- Administer the pre-employment investigation waiver program under Section 145b of the Atomic Energy Act, reviewing eligibility under applicable regulations and Executive Orders.
- Prepare special reports for senior leadership on complex or controversial security cases and recommend solutions to improve personnel security processes.
- Conduct interviews and evaluate investigative findings, particularly in cases involving derogatory information.
- Communicate findings clearly and logically in writing and orally.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with supervisors, peers, and external partners.
- Support modernization of personnel vetting processes aligned with government-wide TW 2.0 policies.
- Participate in Continuous Vetting (CV) by reviewing automated record checks, identifying potential security concerns, and initiating follow-up actions.
- Adapt NRC adjudicative processes and documentation to TW 2.0 requirements.
- Contribute to training, communication, and implementation activities supporting TW 2.0 adoption.
