The Permian Electrical Operations Manager is responsible for the success of Wescom’s electrical operations throughout the Permian Basin. This role requires strong leadership qualities and strong electrical knowledge in equal measure, with basic automation knowledge required. The position is accountable for developing people, building strong customer relationships, planning and executing quality projects, maintaining profitability, supporting safety, and ensuring company assets are cared for. Through consistent field presence and regular communication with supervisors, employees, clients, and other Wescom leaders, the Permian Electrical Operations Manager will establish clear expectations, hold teams accountable, develop future leaders, and help position the Permian operation for continued growth. All employees must act with urgency, accountability, and flexibility to ensure Wescom’s core values are always followed.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide visible, consistent leadership to electrical supervisors, foremen, journeymen, apprentices, and other team members.
  • Establish clear expectations and hold employees accountable for safety, quality, productivity, professionalism, customer service, and follow-through.
  • Coach and develop supervisors and field leaders, identifying employees who are ready for increased responsibility and creating opportunities for growth.
  • Maintain a strong field presence by regularly visiting projects, interacting with crews, and meeting with customer representatives and PICs.
  • Provide electrical technical leadership and quality oversight while supporting supervisors and field employees with complex troubleshooting and execution issues.
  • Maintain basic working knowledge of automation and controls, including PLC-controlled systems, instrumentation, VFDs, communications, and the interaction between electrical and automation systems.
  • Manage projects from award through completion, coordinating manpower, materials, equipment, schedules, drawings, submittals, RFIs, quality, and project closeout.
  • Plan and allocate resources across projects while proactively addressing manpower, scheduling, productivity, quality, and execution concerns.
  • Establish and monitor operational KPIs so employees and leadership have a clear understanding of expectations and performance.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through prompt communication, reliable execution, and professional follow-through.
  • Support estimating, proposal development, project selection, and identification of work that is a good fit for Wescom’s capabilities and resources.
  • Work closely with Safety, Assets, Automation, People, and other Wescom divisions to support successful project execution and company goals.
  • Conduct effective operational and crew meetings with clear action items, ownership, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Be an active safety role model, address unsafe behaviors and conditions, and support employees in exercising Stop Work Authority when appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing electrical crews, supervisors, or field operations.
  • Strong industrial electrical knowledge and troubleshooting ability; oil and gas electrical experience strongly preferred.
  • Basic automation and controls knowledge required, including familiarity with PLC-controlled systems, instrumentation, VFDs, and communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, develop, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, crews, manpower, schedules, equipment, and resources.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with employees, customers, and company leadership.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to identify issues early and follow through to resolution.
  • Business and operational experience related to budgeting, project performance, growth, and fast-paced environments strongly preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to spend significant time in the field throughout the Permian Basin.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet Wescom driving requirements.

Hours

  • Expect 50 hours a week
  • Start time: 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday, with additional hours as needed to support field operations, customers, and project needs.
