Perioperative Nurse Educator

Essential Functions of the Job:Assists nursing/clinical staff, primarily in the Operating Room, Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU), Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Endoscopy Unit (EU) and Surgicare, in identifying their learning needs and planning activities to meet their needsUtilizes the consultation process to facilitate and enhance achievement of individual departmental/organizational goalsDesigns educational offerings and learning experiences that incorporate adult learning principlesCoordinate the orientation education and training for the Operating Room, Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU), Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Endoscopy Unit (EU) and Surgicare.Assist with core competencies upon hire and annual recertification to include acquisition of new skills based on new services.Obtain and maintain BLS Certification and Instructor CertificationObtain and maintain PALS Certification and Instructor CertificationObtain and maintain ACLS Certification and Instructor CertificationRole model for the Onslow Memorial Hospital Code of Conduct/Expected Service Behaviors.Demonstrates effective time management, ability to manage multiple projects and meets identified deadlines.Promotes trusts and employee engagement through effective and timely communication strategies.QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred with specialty certification in Operating Room (CNOR). Licensed as RN in the State of North Carolina.Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the perioperative setting. Previous teaching experience in a formalized educational setting helpful. Knowledge of adult-learning principles and planning educational activities.Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), may obtain within 6 months and willing to obtain instructor certification.
