Perfusionist

The Perfusionist will primarily perform cardiopulmonary perfusion during cardiac surgical procedures and provide cell-saver services for orthopedic, cardiac, and neurosurgical patients. Approximately 90% of the role is perfusion and 10% is cell-saver activity .

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and manage the heart-lung machine during cardiopulmonary bypass.
• Select appropriate perfusion circuits and prime solutions based on patient and procedure requirements.
• Prepare and maintain disposable/non-disposable components of the cardiopulmonary circuit.
• Ensure safe operation of the heart-lung machine and ancillary equipment.
• Manage patients on cardiopulmonary bypass, including awareness of appropriate pharmacological interventions.
• Apply knowledge of pump physiology and its effects on patient homeostasis.
• Maintain awareness of the surgical procedure and respond appropriately to changing conditions.
• Perform cell-saver procedures for orthopedic, cardiac, and neurosurgical cases.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with surgeons, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements:

• Graduation from an approved/accredited perfusion program.
• Appropriate degree in Health Science or related field.
• Graduation from a CAHEA-accredited program.
• 1–2 years of experience preferred; new graduates will be considered.
• Out-of-state candidates may be considered if willing to obtain Oklahoma licensure.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organization and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
• Demonstrated patient-care skills
