Overview
The safe and effective management of extra-corporeal support for the purpose of surgical repairs to the heart and great vessels under the supervision of the Chief Perfusionist.
Responsibilities
- Prepares for Cardiopulmonary Bypass (CPB).
- Functions as a competent member of the cardiac team.
- Safely conducts CPB.
- Maintains clinical competency.
- Documents CPB, QC and test results for ACT among various other records.
- Participates in equipment maintenance and materials management.
- Fulfills required annual clinical and/or hospital related competencies
- Supports Mechanical Circulatory devices, initiating and transporting from outside of the facility when necessary.
- Independently participates in education and precepting perfusion students and new employee orientation.
- Performs other duties as required that are within scope of practice and professional license.
Qualifications
Minimum Education Required: Graduate of an accredited perfusion program.
Minimum Experience Required: 2 Years of experience as a Perfusionist.
Minimum Licensure/Certification Required By Law: American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion certification and Georgia license required.
Additional Qualifications: BLS required. ACLS preferred.
