Core Hours: Monday–Friday 8am–5pm (No Weekends, No Holidays)
Primary Purpose
Responsible for organizing and coordinating Performance Improvement and Patient Safety activities at a departmental level within Parkland.
Minimum Specifications
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in a health related field.
Experience
- Must have five years of experience working with performance improvement issues.
Equivalent Experience
- May have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification/Registration/Licensure
Laboratory Services Only
- Must be Certified By One Of The Following:
- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
- Medical Technologist (MT) - Department of Health Services (HHS) formerly (HEW)
- Medical Technologist (MT) - American Medical Technologist (AMT)
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - national certification agency
Nurses Only
- Must have current RN license or valid temporary license with the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license.
- Must have current healthcare provider CPR course completion card from one of the following:
- American Heart Association
- American Red Cross Rescuer
- Military Training Network.
Skills or Special Abilities
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of data management and process improvement.
- Must have knowledge of Joint Commission standards and their interpretation as related to areas of responsibility.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill to operate a computer to input and extract information using word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
- Must be able to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
- Must be able to employ effective problem solving and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate patient-centered/patient-valued behaviors.
- Nurses Only: Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nursing Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards.
