Pay Range

$75.71 per hour

Job Overview

Provides direct patient care services to individuals exhibiting communication and/or swallowing disorders. Coordinates services with other health professionals and may assist in training and supervising students.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers effective therapeutic services relevant to the population served and remains knowledgeable of current techniques.
  • Communicates speech-language evaluations accurately and efficiently; documents findings in verbal and written form.
  • Completes basic competencies for the population in accordance with department and hospital criteria.
  • Meets productivity demands by seeking opportunities when cancellations, no‑shows, or low census occur.
  • Shares information on therapy/evaluation techniques and hospital procedures with students, volunteers, and peers.
  • Participates in department projects aligned with department and hospital goals.
  • Communicates job‑specific concerns and develops solutions.
  • Provides in‑service training to staff and community and completes training per state license laws.
  • Completes written work in a timely manner relevant to evaluation, therapy, patient coordination; meets ASHA standards.

Qualifications (Required)

  • Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • NJ State Speech‑Language Pathology License or eligibility.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association or eligibility.
  • Speech Correctionist or Speech‑Language Specialist Certificate.
  • Member of ASHA.
  • AHA BLS Provider Certification.
  • Evidence of continuing education to maintain licensing requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of principles and applications in diagnosis and management of communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Tact, initiative, and judgment in the performance of duties.

Preferred

  • Student clinical experience in pediatrics; rehabilitation experience.
  • Knowledge of normal development.
  • One year of experience as licensed SLP.

Certifications and Licenses

  • NJ State Speech‑Language Pathology License or eligibility.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association or eligibility.
  • Speech Correctionist or Speech‑Language Specialist Certificate.
  • Member of ASHA.
  • AHA BLS Provider Certification.

Scheduling Requirements

  • Per Diem.
  • Saturday mornings and after‑school hours available.
