Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Per Diem Nuclear Med Technologist – Outpatient Cardiology – Mineola.

In this role, the successful candidate, under the direction of the Nuclear Medicine Manager, Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist and Medical Director, performs duties directly involved in a variety of technical procedures in the application of radionuclides.

Job Responsibilities:

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Operates Nuclear Medicine equipment including Gamma cameras, Thyroid Uptake probe, dose calibrator and Geiger counter; produces diagnostic images for radiologist interpretation.
• Performs calibrations and quality control procedures and maintains proper maintenance records; produces accurate flood images on cameras; reports abnormal calibrations.
• Responsible for preparing and injecting or orally administering radionuclides to patients, identifying patients and procedures; maintains dose logs and properly disposes radioactive waste; adheres to competency assessed by authorized users.
• Responsible for radiation safety, infection control, and all other safety regulations; attends annual in‑services and documents practiced safety.
• Enters proper exam codes into the Radiology Information System (Carestream); arrives and completes exams in a timely manner.
• Assists in care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies; reports any equipment problems or malfunctions to the supervisor promptly.
• Instructs and supervises Nuclear Medicine students in clinical practice; works with students to perform exams and evaluate images individually.

Minimum Qualifications: A Technical Diploma; approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program, or an Associate’s Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related health field for all employees hired after August 1, 2016. New graduates must hold a Nuclear Medicine permit issued by the NYS Department of Health or a New York State license in Nuclear Medicine, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Strong communication, problem‑solving, and customer service skills; basic computer skills including Microsoft Office; and demonstrates thorough knowledge of Nuclear Medicine equipment.

Required Licenses: Radiologic Tech – Temp Permit; Radiologic Tech License – NYS; Nuclear Med Tech Certification (NMTCB); American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Preferred Qualifications: 1–2 years of Nuclear Technologist experience.

Salary range: $53.00 – $53.00 per hour. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital needs. The rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive, differential pay or other compensation.
