Per Diem Hematology/Oncology Physician — NYC Health + Hospitals | Carter, Harlem, NY. Carter is a modern healthcare facility with a 164-bed Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and a 201-bed Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH). Affiliated with NYU Langone Health, Carter focuses on care for medically complex patients, including ventilator-dependent individuals.

Position

Per Diem Hematology/Oncology Physician

Responsibilities

• Provide Hematology/Oncology consultations for inpatients and long-term care patients.
• Support cancer care planning, symptom management, and coordination of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Collaborate with primary medical teams, palliative care, nursing, pharmacy, and rehabilitation services.
• Manage hematologic conditions such as anemia, thrombocytopenia, leukocytosis, and coagulopathies.
• Evaluate abnormal labs, lymphadenopathy, or unexplained weight loss.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and family care conferences as needed.
• Contribute to quality and safety initiatives related to oncology and hematology care.

Essential Functions

• Practice and communicate according to ICARE values.
• Document evaluations and recommendations promptly in the EMR.
• Engage with patients and families using compassionate, patient-centered communication.
• Collaborate with the broader healthcare team to provide coordinated, holistic care.

Requirements

• Active NYS Medical License
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology and/or Medical Oncology
• Experience in long-term or post-acute care settings is a plus
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Commitment to serving diverse and underserved populations
