Job Description
Primary Purpose: Under moderate supervision, coordinate the collection and reporting of district Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) data.
Qualifications
- Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED
- Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Maintain accurate and auditable records.
- Use a personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, perform data analysis, and do word processing.
- Proficient in keyboarding, 10‑key numerical data entry, and file maintenance skills.
- Perform basic math.
- Meet established deadlines.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Understand detailed written or oral instructions.
- Knowledge of student information system software.
- Knowledge of Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS).
- Knowledge of the Texas Public Information Act (TPIA).
- Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Fundamental principles of data analysis, including statistical and mathematical computations and measurements.
- Interpret data.
- Experience: 3 years of experience in a school district administrative support position requiring the collection and entry of data.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Records and Reports:
- Facilitate the collection, integration, and formatting of all data required for PEIMS submission in accordance with the Texas Education Agency's PEIMS Data Standards.
- Work cooperatively with campus, business office, and personnel office staff to collect, organize, and format data required to submit district PEIMS data in accordance with prescribed state deadlines.
- Run edits, reports, and verification checks on data to ensure accuracy of information. Distribute edits and reports to appropriate staff for analysis, verification, and correction.
- Submit complete and accurate PEIMS data in the TEA‑prescribed format to the education service center (ESC) for processing using a computer terminal or a personal computer.
- Verify data submitted to TEA and submit corrections in a timely manner.
- Training and Technical Support:
- Provide training and support to campuses and to business and personnel office staff responsible for processing PEIMS data.
- Provide excellent customer service and support to parents, community members, district, and campus staff.
- Receive PEIMS‑related information from ESC and TEA, attend all regional PEIMS workshops, and disseminate information to other staff in a timely manner, including updates to PEIMS Data Standards.
- Attend all Texas Education Agency and Regional Service Center PEIMS training sessions and disseminate information to appropriate staff.

- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including a personal computer and peripherals.
- Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.

- Environment: Frequent district‑wide travel; occasional statewide travel; may require occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours.
