The Rescue Mission of Trenton is looking for a caring and dependable Peer Specialist to join our team. This is a full-time, in-person position. This is not a remote job.
As a Peer Specialist, you will play an important role in the lives of our clients by providing support, understanding, and encouragement throughout their recovery. Your goal is to help clients feel supported, understood, and motivated as they move through the treatment process.
What You'll Do
- Welcome clients as they begin treatment.
- Build trusting relationships by listening, encouraging, and supporting clients.
- Check on clients throughout your shift to make sure they are safe and doing well.
- Meet one-on-one with clients to offer guidance and encouragement.
- Help clients set recovery goals and connect with community resources.
- Support a safe, respectful, and positive living environment.
- Help calm difficult situations and provide support during times of stress.
- Encourage clients to take part in treatment, groups, and daily activities.
- Complete required paperwork and work closely with counselors and other staff.
What We're Looking For
- Personal recovery experience and a desire to help others.
- Peer Specialist experience is preferred but not required.
- A caring, respectful, and positive attitude.
- Good communication and listening skills.
- Ability to work well with others and independently.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to complete documentation.
- Ability to work one of the following assigned shifts. Because the Rescue Mission of Trenton operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, your regular schedule may include weekends and holidays.
- First Shift: 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- Second Shift: 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
- Third Shift: 10:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
