Job Description

Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non‑Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. We are seeking a Pediatrician to join our Southampton location and support our Shirley and Patchogue locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Takes histories, performs physical examinations, and prescribes treatment and medication for conditions within the scope of the specialty following evidence‑based standards of care.
• Provides after‑hours and hospital coverage for Health Center patients as contractually obligated.
• Participates in quality improvement activities, including Medical Record Peer Review, performance and procedure audits, outcome audits, and focused reviews.
• Supervises clinical activities and documentation of medical providers in the department, including protocol review, telephone triage, and follow‑up procedures.
• Coordinates tests, referrals, and care of patients outside the Health Center.
• Sets and meets standards for preventive care and diagnostic screening within the specialty; participates in program development to implement these standards.
• Maintains legible and appropriate documentation of medical records.
• Attends provider meetings and collaborates with Health Center staff to maintain high‑quality standards.
• Meets productivity, quality, and patient satisfaction standards.

Schedule

• Southampton – 3 days a week
• Patchogue – 1 day a week
• Shirley – 1 day a week

Minimum Education and Licensure

• Doctorate Degree – M.D. or D.O.
• Valid New York State medical license
• Board certified

Minimum Related Work Experience

2‑4 years

Required Skills & Knowledge

• Knowledge of diagnostic and treatment procedures that nurse practitioners are trained to perform, necessary for practice in health care centers.
• Competence in delivering health care, including preventive health education.
• Ability to collaborate with other Health Center members to maintain high quality standards and achieve client satisfaction.
• Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish (oral and written).

Salary Range

$112,890.96 – $127,534.68 annualized (part‑time, 21 hrs/week)

$215,030.40 – $242,923.20 annualized (full‑time, 40 hrs/week)
