Sanford Health is seeking a dedicated Pediatric Pulmonologist to join its expanding practice within the Sanford Children's Specialty Group and the Department of Pediatrics at the Sanford School of Medicine of the University of South Dakota. This role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive care for pediatric patients with a wide range of respiratory conditions, including cystic fibrosis, asthma, and sleep issues. The successful candidate will contribute to a leading children's hospital and a collaborative team of pediatric sub-specialists.

Practice Info

  • Join an expanding pulmonology practice within Sanford Children's Specialty Group and the Department of Pediatrics Sanford School of Medicine of the University of South Dakota.
  • Sanford is an accredited CF Center.
  • Pulmonology cares for patients with a variety of diagnoses including asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, pediatric sleep issues and apnea along with other general pediatric pulmonary diseases.
  • Pulmonology division is currently involved in clinical research and participates in the CF Foundation's Therapeutic Development Network.
  • Sanford Children's Clinic is a group of 70+ pediatric sub-specialists with most pediatric sub-specialties represented.
  • Sanford Children's Hospital is the only free-standing children's hospital in the state of South Dakota.

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examination.
  • Admit (if applicable to the setting).
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment or consultative services to children, adolescents, and young adults presenting with conditions, disorders, injuries, and diseases of the respiratory system, to include lungs, cardiovascular and tracheobronchial systems, esophagus and other mediastinal contents, diaphragm and circulatory systems.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of a Pediatric residency program followed by completion of a fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonary accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • If not board certified at the time of application but completed fellowship training within the last five years, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of fellowship training.
  • BE/BC preferred for Sleep Medicine.
