Overview

The Children’s Hospital of Illinois is a Level 1 Trauma Center that seeks a pediatric orthopedic surgeon to grow a general pediatric orthopedic surgical and non‑surgical practice and develop subspecialty interests in clubfoot care, neuromuscular disorders, and spinal deformity.

Job Specifics

  • Associate/assistant professor status may be available through the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Peoria.
  • Available to a growing referral base of 100 CHOI pediatric sub‑specialists and 157 OSF Medical Group practice locations.
  • State‑of‑the‑art equipment including O‑Arm navigation, Medtronic Stealth, ROSA, and MazrX.
  • Comprehensive support services: fellowship‑trained pediatric anesthesiologists, radiologist, child life services, neonatologists, pediatric intensivists/hospitalists, OR Physician Assistant.
  • Board certified or eligible in orthopedics with a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery, Illinois license eligibility, strong teaching and interpersonal skills.

Division Lead Specifics

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Pediatric Orthopedic Division.
  • Strengthen collaboration across CHOI and OSF HealthCare with referring providers, multidisciplinary teams, and community partners.
  • Oversee quality, safety, and performance initiatives to ensure exceptional patient outcomes and high‑value experience for families.
  • Support the academic mission through teaching, mentorship, and scholarly activity with the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Peoria.
  • Guide development, recruitment, and retention to build a sustainable, high‑performing division.
  • Collaborate with faculty to maintain excellence in general pediatric education within pediatrics, emergency medicine and surgery.
  • Maintain a clinical service program to meet regional needs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of pediatric orthopedics practice with leadership experience.
  • Doctorate.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed to practice medicine in the current state.
  • Board certified or board eligible in orthopedics.
  • Maintain medical staff membership and privileges.
  • Eligible provider for Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs; meet OSF malpractice coverage requirements.
  • Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the State of Illinois to prescribe narcotics, if applicable.
