Pediatric Neurologist - Physician Scientist

The University of Utah is seeking a Pediatric Neurologist - Physician Scientist to serve as a key member of the clinical team, providing subspecialty patient care in inpatient and outpatient pediatric neurology settings with a 25% effort on clinical duties and 75% effort dedicated to research and investigation.

Clinical activities may take place at Primary Children’s Hospitals in Salt Lake City and Lehi, the Clinical Neurosciences Center, and Riverton Hospital. The candidate will have a proven publication record, demonstration or high likelihood of extramural funding, and synergy with on‑going programs such as epilepsy, genetic therapies, neuromuscular, neonatal, or leukodystrophy.

Qualified candidates must be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Neurology with specialization in Child Neurology, have a strong record of scholarship, and be prepared to commit at least 75% of effort to research. The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Tenure track at the academic rank commensurate with experience.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide subspecialty clinical care to pediatric patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Dedicate 75% of effort to original research, including securing extramural funding.
• Engage in teaching, scholarly activity, and administrative duties as required.
• Participate in advocacy and community outreach relevant to pediatric neurology.

Qualifications

• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Neurology with a specialization in Child Neurology.
• Strong publication record and high likelihood of obtaining extramural funding.
• Minimum 75% research effort commitment; candidates with less than 50% research effort will not be considered.
• Experience or synergy with epilepsy, genetic therapies, neuromuscular disorders, neonatal neurology, or leukodystrophy preferred.
