Sanford Health is seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Neurologist/Epileptologist to join their expansive pediatric specialty team at Sanford Children's Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. This role primarily focuses on inpatient care, including consultations within the Children's Hospital and reading inpatient and outpatient EEGs. The successful candidate will join a growing team and contribute to a well-established pediatric department within one of the largest not-for-profit health systems in the US.

Practice Info

  • Mainly inpatient-based practice with hospital consults throughout the 72+ bed Children's Hospital
  • Pediatric epilepsy monitoring unit located within the Children's hospital
  • Growing team consisting of 1 physician and 1 advanced practice provider
  • Well-established pediatric team including 65+ pediatric sub-specialists
  • Sanford Medical Center is a designated comprehensive stroke center, level 1 trauma for adults and the only level 2 pediatric trauma unit
  • Serves a large catchment area of 1.2 million throughout ND, MN and parts of SD and MT

Responsibilities

  • Work mainly in the inpatient setting doing Children's Hospital consultations
  • Read inpatient and outpatient EEGs
  • Admit (if applicable to the setting)
  • Perform history and physical examinations
  • Evaluate, diagnosis, treat, and provide consultation to neonates, infants, children and adolescents
  • Serve as clinical faculty with Department of Pediatrics at UND School of Medicine and Health Science teaching medical students & family medicine residents as well as an upcoming pediatric residency
  • Serve as faculty in future adult neurology residency program

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Successful completion of a Child Neurology residency accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable
  • If not board certified at the time of application but completed residency training within the last five years, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of residency training
